A strong proposal explains what you want to investigate, why the problem matters, what previous scholarship says, how you will investigate it and what the study is expected to contribute. Typical sections include background, problem statement, purpose, research questions/objectives, literature review, conceptual/theoretical framework, methodology, ethics, limitations, timeline and references.
A literature review is more than a list of article summaries. Group the literature around themes, concepts, debates or methodological approaches. Compare authors, identify agreements and contradictions, assess the strength of evidence and use the review to establish the gap your research addresses.
Start with the research question rather than choosing a method because it is familiar. Consider whether the question requires numerical measurement, in-depth interpretation, or a combination. Your paradigm, design, population, sampling, instruments, data collection and analysis should form a logically connected chain.
Analysis should answer the research questions using the evidence collected. Quantitative studies may involve descriptive or inferential statistics; qualitative studies may involve coding, categories, themes and interpretation. Findings should be reported clearly before broader discussion and implications are developed.
Use sources accurately, cite ideas that are not your own, keep research records, protect participant information and follow your institution’s ethics requirements. External editing or research support should never be used to misrepresent authorship or bypass institutional rules.
